Pair of Love Birds

Having spent some of my childhood in Australia, hese little chaps were inspired by flocks of brightly coloured parakeets that would visit our garden to perch in the fruit trees and 'help us' eat our homegrown fruit.

Each one meaures 6x10cm from beak to tail tip and are handcut from a rainbow selection of coloured sheets of glass. They are then cold worked, painted with a cheeky little beady eye, a cantrasting beak, a sprinkling of rainbow glass frit and fused to include a heart shaped kiln carved wing detail. Once cool, a small hole is drilled and a length of stong, nylon thread is added to each bird so you can hang your cheeky pair of birdies to keep an eye on things and spread a bit of love.
